Who's been on a really good tiling courses?

Who's been on a really good tiling course and where was it that you went?

I've had really good feedback about both UK Tiling Courses and North East Tiling Training Courses recently. These two training centre's promise competitive prices and only high-quality tiling training courses but what's worth moret han that is the fact that these training centre's do NOT run any other course types meaning they are specialists in tiling training courses.

Other training centre's can be busy and have more than a few course types which means your teacher could just be paid on a daily rate and is just a tiler themselves and not a real teacher! - Check when calling! Courses have been known to be slightly less smooth with this type of setup.

just a quick question on here about tiling courses.....do people who go on these courses really think that after 1-2-3-4 weeks of training they can be skillfull enough to actually go out in the market place and profess to be fully skilled and competant in the trade of wall and floor tiling?
i did an apprenticeship for many years learning all aspects of the trade...im a contractor, and always on the lookout for decent fixers,but would not really take anyone on after such a short period of time.....tiles are an expensive material to work with...it must be done right first time and be of the correct standard......i have dealt with many so called "tilers" over the years...i wouldnt trust them with a sweeping brush...let alone a trowel......your thoughts on this subject would be interesting.....

Ahh well, it's a question even the tiler wanna-bee's ask too to be honest. The courses are designed to help the guys who can't enrole in a college, or maybe they are being made redundant and need a fast track, maybe they have been shown the ropes by their friend or something but need to build their confidence up a little.

The courses certainly don't show them everything but they are a really good place to start, then if they like it, they carry on training and i'm sure you will agree, even after 20-odd years you still learn things.

If you have been tiling part time for about a year then i cant see what benefit a course will provide you...you should already know the basics from your time already spent tiling.....dave..
