Had the bathroom skimmed over 2 weeks ago and is now dry. Some chases in the wall had to be bonded and skimmed and its still a little wet but I want to get started on the walls that are dry.

Bal adhesive pack im using says to prime with bal prime APD before, is there an alternative brand people use or would a mist coat of cheap emulsion do the job to?

Cheers

Need to use an acrylic or tiling SBR primer mixed as per manufacturers recommendation.
It will state dilution for plaster.
Pva in any form is not suitable at all.

The only downfall to useing another product outside of adhesive manufacturers recommendation is that if there is any kind of issue in the future where the integrity of the adhesive is called in to question, they will know immediately that you've used a third party primer which they will use as a reason not to take responsibility.

I generally try and stick to the same manufacturer for primer and adhesive, that said I've mixed and matched many times with no problem. Small bottles of BAL primer are available so shouldn't cost too much. As above, don't paint it and avoid PVA

Cheers for ur replies, Im assuming I don't need to do this on the walls im tanking (i.e applied after tanking and before tiling).

As for under the tanking, the bal tank it instructions dont mention any primer so looks like i can apply the tanking direct to the plaster.

Does that all sound good?
