Tiling on a ceiling advice

Been asked to tile a steam room, customer also want the ceiling tanked and tiled. The ceiling at the mo is skimmed plaster board,but can be altered, if it needs to. I have never been asked to tank and tile on to a ceiling and need to know if this is possible. Any advice will be appreciated.

back butter the tiles with a continuos bead of addy near the edge and press home excluding the air and creating a vacuum

Cheers mike. Would it be safer with a 2 part addy, rather than a spf ?

Replace the plaster board with cement board..

what tiles you using.. some need mechanical fixings.

The ceiling can be reboarded no probs, He has not decided on tiles yet, but will be either ceramic, or pocelain.

try using BAL variset and you can have the set of the addy as fast as you like, almost!

I tiled a ceiling in a kitchen last year, see my albums, Chiswick house, 3 meters up and all epoxy grout, nightmare lol

I would try and talk the customer into having the plastic cladding ceiling easy to put up and looks the part when its finished

I would check on my public liability insurance, get a customer disclaimer, replace the ceiling with a tile backer board, and then not fix anything bigger than a mosaic.

yeah it was one of my first posts on this forum, i just had a look back to see if I could find it via my statistics page but it only keeps the last 500 posts in there.

Wan't it in a gallery hall some 7-8 meters up? and aussie like you say

Good find there Rob...for some reason the photos that I had posted in there are gone. I can dig them up again if anyone is interested.

The Laticrete stuff will do just about anything you want it to do without using mechanical fasteners. There are size limits but they are well above anything those of us in the tile trade will encounter.

I did a skilling with large format porcelain tiles, got the builder to fix backer board and i tiled it no problem, your be surprised how much suction adhesive has...also i put jablite and ply on the shower tray in case one fell and made a hole through the shower tray..luckily they all stay put!!! Belt and braces man thats me.
