Just had a chance to try out the new adhesive from Tilemaster for Gypsum based screeds.

Anhyfix is the name and sticking to Anhydrite screeds is the game......and yes it sticks well. Although I do think in the recent heat it didnt get a fair chance. It felt very sticky ! very polymer modified and flexible.
The 1st mix was a touch on the dry side considering the heatwave we are experiencing at the moment.... my mistake.

2nd time mixed wetter but still had an "elastic " feel to it. I was actually expecting it to feel like another Gypsum adhesive I use. Drying times and usability were as other the adhesive.

Obviously I cant say which is the best adhesive in long term but I did prefer the Anhyfix because it felt " Sticky" but i dont think it was best suited for the temperature I was working in. In our usual climate I feel it will be a winner.

At the moment I am not sure on the price and it will of course be a big factor come the next time I need such an adhesive.

I was speaking to lee @ tile town about this adhesive a couple of weeks ago.
The house builder has still not made his mind up what addy to go for but it's looking like he wants to go for cement based & plenty of primer to go on a Gyvlon screed & Knauf Brio boards..

A few questions from me if you don't mind mate.

How did it trowel, nice and smooth?

Was back skimming easy?

Did you mix a full bag at a time?

Using it on Saturday so any info will be handy. Thanks.

It trowels easily enough when you get used to this elastic feel to it and when you mix it correct !
Back skimming again was easy when mixed correct....err on the wetter side !
Half a bag at a time for me....maybe on a big floor on a cooler day, I would attempt a full bag.

It sound very much like creative impressions GBTA, have you used that as a comparison?

No I havent Bri.

They sound very similar, it almost looks too wet when it's in the bucket but, trowels out lovely. It took me a couple of goes to get it right.

I found that Bri with GBTA. It does take a couple of mixes to get it right, but it goes well down and does appear to stick!!

Seems to be the way with this type of adhesive, what i wasnt prepared for was this elastic feel to it....not a bad thing but will be interested to hear Bri`s thoughts when he tries it.
