It’s for the magnetic clamp

No, I meant the cutout on the left of the pic, not the space where the magnetic clamp is which is the far left

You make a big deal out of that . I've seen it on Bosch lasers but I really don't see it as an issue , i have no problem adjusting the height of my laser in tiny amounts .
