Hello!
I'm looking on some advice on insulation!
Currently I have a failed damp course in an old victorian kitchen which is about 100mm lower than the adjoining room.
Digging out the floor and laying an insulated slab is not an option for several reasons which I wont go into and since I'm replacing the roof I can afford to raise the floor 100mm with fixed timbers, ply and tiles.
My original plan is to install a DPC sheet and screw down 75mm battens insulate between with 75mm ecotherm and overboard with 18mm ply/chipboard then install UFH, levelling compound and tile. Of course this means I will lose some heat to warming up the chipboard layer.
I am impressed at the reported effects of placing insulation directly under the UHF - no argument there but should I still ecotherm under the ply deck?
OPTIONS:
A. 47mm battens and ecotherm, 18mm deck, 12.5mm WEDI = 80mm plus leveller,eUFH and tiles
B. 47mm battens and ecotherm, 22mm deck, 6mm WEDI = 78mm plus leveller,eUFH and tiles
C 38mm battens , no ecotherm , 18mm deck, 20mm WEDI = 79mm plus leveller, eUFH and tiles
by my reckoning WEDI is about double the cost of Ecotherm and is not as thermally resistant so an element of ecotherm seems to make sense?
Any thoughts on this anyone?
