Hello!

I have a dilemma, and if you could help me with advice, I would be very grateful.

I am trying to install a feature wall, with two 120x250cm porcelain tile format, LED lights around the tiles and also would like to have my TV mounted on it. The original wall is an exterior plasterboard.
The tiler that I talked to said he doesn't really do any joinery work, but he would be happy to give it a go. Now, I don't really know if I should trust him and go with him, or get a joiner to do the job.

Is this a big job or can be done pretty easy?
Does it mean a wooden frame screwed to the plasterboard behind, and then a backer board screwed onto the wooden frame, ready for tilling?

Thank you!
Virgil

PS: I still need to get a joiner to put some wooden panels after the tilling is done, but was thikng maybe to get him before the tiles to also do the frame?

I’m assuming you mean 1200 x 250 planks… I don’t really consider that are large format… long, yes, larg, nope. What sort of tile is it and how are you having it spaced?

It is actually 1200 x 2500mm, vey large tiles. I am only having two with a minimal 2mm grout lines. I am trying to achieve a bookmatch design.

The fact he told you he has never done any joinery work shows he can be trusted ,most would have had a go without saying they have never done any.
But get your joiner to do it if he's coming anyway.
