Good morning everyone,

I have been out to look at an external tiling job on a self build. The walls at present are just breeze blocks. What preparation needs to be done prior to tiling the split face ?

Would it be a case of just waterproofing with a membrane or would Hardie boards need installed ?

There is also a build up of algae on the blocks already (the build has been on going for quite sometime). The clients said they are going to use some product to remove that so shouldn't be an issue?!?!

Also the upkeep of a natural product, Would the slate need sealed every 6 months like you would floors ? or not because its not getting foot traffic walking over it ?

Many Thanks

Dan

I've a similar project planned and was going to use Bal Quickset Render to prep the walls. I hadn't yet decided on waterproofing tbh.
