Why are you overboarding floors?

Wooden floors have to be overboarded for several reasons. Strengthen existing floor, strengthen against horizontal stresses.
Give a flat surface for tiling (waterproof system if needed) to name a few

I tried opening a ctd cash account online and never heard anything back is it worth me timing Cardiff ctd and asking them or the main free number and I find it hard to get backer boards down my way with out ordering things

I would go in & fill out a form & start with a cash account or ask them for a credit account.
I started with a cash account & shut it down last year, much easier with a credit account.

I got mine from Insulation Express Insulation Express | Specialists in Insulation and Building products

They are an online outlet for Sheffield Insulation. SI have lots of local outlets that they've bought up over the years and their big warehouses of course. Prices can be different at the various outlets. If you buy lots then you might be better with an account at SI themselves.

Are you from Sheffield IHB?
I'll have to look into it, if I can make a bit of money on the side then happy days :)

No Solihull in the West Midlands. Sheffield Insulation have branches all over the place. One of the oddities about ordering from Insulation Express is that they source stuff from lots of SI branches & you can get lots of lorries turning up with different bits of your order.

I know that!
What I was getting at is - the reason/s you are overboarding will dictate your choice of materials.
I don't see how NMP can cover all bases.
In my experience 6mm cement/silica boards are only suitable for small floors free of excessive deflection.

Sorry mate, I wasn't sure if you are a pro or just a novice asking a question.

My thread (this one) has answered and helped with choosing the the right board for different situations. As far as where you cut the line for big meterage over a large floor.. i don't know.
i wouldn't go sticking matting on floor boards though.
I haven't personally come across a job big enough to pose the question of what else to use.
But faced with a 'large' floor, floor boarded throughout would still need to be strengthened, What would you do Impish?

They do but it's a cement board so I like to try a water test on some....

my supplier has a NMP show case on the counter which has a piece of board one side and water on the top of it.. bottom tray of display is dry
