Tile backer board joints.

In a new wet room there will be many butt joints in the tile backer board/ insulation board on the walls & the floor. I plan to use expensive self adhesive waterproof tape around the shower former. However to use this tape everywhere would be very expensive so could I use self adhesive scrim tape plus a tanking formulation over the other joints? The boards are cement coated and are waterproof.
Any advice gratefully received.

The self adhesive tape is good, you could use a tanking kit such as ardex, Mapei or Tilemaster, it’s paste and tape, there about £50 and usually come with about 10m of tape, you could get an extra roll of tape if needed

went on an internet site and picked up internal corners for £1.49 each a time saving bargain
