I’m halfway through tiling a shower cubicle at home. First time doing any tiling. I’ve used waterproof tile backer boards with 200x65 ceramic metros. The chap at CTD recommended using Mapei Ultralite D2 tubbed adhesive as it would give me plenty of working time and easy to use. I noticed when removing a spacer after around 12 hrs that one of the tiles moved slightly, which was a bit worrying. I posted on another forum and also spoke to mapei tech help and the consensus seems to be that it could take a really long time to cure because of the waterproof substrate. I’m going to do the rest of the shower using a powdered cement based adhesive, but I really don’t want to have to rip off all the work I’ve already done. Especially as it’s now been two days so i’ll probably end up damaging lots of tiles if I try to remove them. They all feel quite solid now. What are your thoughts? Am I panicking over nothing, or will my tiles all start falling off after 6 months? Has anyone used dispersion type adhesive in a shower area successfully? Thanks
