Can anyone recommend a good sealer for a slate floor that's easy to strip/re-apply - other than Lithofin Slateseal? I'm asking as around 10 yrs ago I used Slateseal on my kitchen floor (which I laid myself) and over the years it discoloured badly. I could wash the floor with a strong detergent and the water in the bucket would remain clean, yet the floor still looked filthy - see attached image (this is just a small sub-section). I scraped off some flakes of sealer with a razor and it apperared almost like the lenses of a pair of sunglasses - a dirty brown translucent colour. I then started the miserable task of stripping the sealer from the floor using Waxoff/PSRP Sealer and Coating Remover/ LTP Solvex, etc., eventually settling on the water-based B&Q (Diall) Paint & Varnish remover which I found to be identical in performance, appearance, smell and consistency to the aforementioned products at one tenth of the price! So, I'm nearly done stripping... and it's a task I never want to go through again! Is there a less 'heavy duty' product that will seal the floor effectively, and be easier to strip and renew, perhaps at the expensive of being less durable? I don't mind topping up the finish every now and then. I'm looking at HG Slate Sealer or an LTP product? Bear in mind I want something that's easily renewed... Thanks! Alan
