Dougs Third Go

I took last friday off and me, wife and kids went to go and book a holiday.Yep, we booked Sharm El Sheikh only to find out the next day about the tragic events that happened there saturday. Obviously reluctant about it now although the resort looked great. Not sure what to do next,,,,hang in there and see what happens next or book for somewhere else..:(

I would say go for it, there'll be a lot of security with what's gone on. (But only if the flight is still going) We went to Madrid 2 days after the train bombs and you couldn't move for army and police. Felt very safe, although you never know with so many fanatical nutters about

Difficult choice mate. If it were me, personally I would look elsewhere, but I always play it safe when it comes to family. If it feels right then go for it!

Doug about 8 years ago... Could have been 10... We had a holiday booked to Sharm then 2 weeks before we were due to fly they blew up the hotel next to ours... Sod that!!!!

We cancelled and went to the Dominican instead. We lost money because the home office raised the threat level for the area but didn't advise against travel. This time it's different, they are saying don't travel, therefore travel operators have to give you a refund.

I take enough risks in my life to not have to add to them by something that can be changed so easily. I'm going on holiday to relax, not to be on my guard 24/7

We've been to Sharm and Tunisia 3 times in the last 4 years, loved them both but, too risky now for me. Went to Cyprus this summer and really enjoyed it. Thing is Doug, if the lunatics want to do some harm, they'll do it anywhere. You just need to do what you think's right for you and your family.

I agree on they'll do harm anywhere but imho I stay clear of countries where the risk is higher .

I was in turkey when bombers struck in the next resort and since then I've had no incling to visit again.

My mate was in the hotel next door to the bombing on his honey moon, they were bang at it in bed when the bombs went off, thought nowt of it, they heard it but carried on, the room phone was ringing for ages , when he answered it he was expecting a rollicking for all the screaming/moaning/groaning, but the person on the phone asked them to get out as it was being evacuated ,:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: true story

Doug we cancelled tunisia earlier this year cos of the shooting,me id cancel, theres more chance of terroist attacks in muslim countries imo

Doug If you still want Egypt try either Hurghada or El Gouna. they both sit on the other side of the Red Sea opposite Sharm. Flights still available to Hurghada. Have been to both and they are excellent. IMO El Gouna is better and only a 30 min taxi from Hurghada.
