Doing a 40sqm Porcelain floor for a local builder at the moment. This is the first job i have done for him, he called into the site today and asked when will i be finished. I said tomorrow...Ok he said i will get the carpet fitter in on thursday!!! Why i asked? He said on all his big floors he gets his mate who is a carpet fitter to lay a cheap carpet on top of the tiling to protect it untill he hands the complete job over to the client...Not many builders do that. Was going to upload photo of floor but finding new site a bit difficult at the moment to find things...:lol:

Yeah I know a builder that covers everything with underly to protect it. Nice to finally see someone taking an interest in preserving our great efforts!

There was an electrician their today who started to chop out sockets in the utility room i had already done...No dust sheet, so i said to him if you mess my grout up i will chop all of your wires off...I was so mad that i had made all this effort on laying a nice floor for the customer then a idiot turns up to ruin it..He could see i was not happy and went and got his dust sheets.

Here is a photo of the floor before i have grouted it. It is a porcelain tile that looks like natural stone and im going to grout with Limestone grout. This tile is fantastic and looks so much like natural stone. Client said it cost £40 sqm and was more than natural stone but without the maintenance.

Good to see the builder respecting your work, but that sparks. I have had that happen , so many times.:mad2:

Same for me, usually they start cutting circles out of the ceiling for the lights and the plaster dust goes everywhere :incazzato::mad2:

I've always found sparks are the worst for leaving their wire cuttings and mess for someone else to sweep up.

one of the builders i work for uses the same sparky every time, some reason ALLWAYS calls him in while i am on a job to fit a vent or whatever. Never cleaned up after himself in all the jobs i have been on with him, end up on my knees with a stanley scraping wire he has left out of joints.

I've known a few builders to lay the plasic floor protector sheets down but can't remember what they're called. They come as 8' by 4' sheets and you tape the edges together.

Great stuff, been on a few jobs where they used it and have bought it myself since. Think its called Corex or something like that.

Everything we lay has 6mm ply and corex over the top. You have to protect your work, because remember no-one else will respect it as much as you do.

I grout a floor, the sparkies came in right away, clipped their wire ends which in turn they trod into my fresh grout as they didn't cover the tiles!!! The builder told me to clean it up, I replied.................rrr:
