[QUOTE="Deleted member 56291, post: 979750"] Looking for a tiler/bathroom/wet room installer who can do local authority disability conversion work in Gatwick/West Sussex area. This particular job is a straight swap of bath for enclosed shower with steam (needs tanking), swap WC for Grohe Sensia electric bidet/WC, swap basin for suspended basin, tile 16sqm with travertine floor to ceiling on all sides, resin flooring. No rerouting of plumbing required, needs 13a socket in void for WC (must have certificate). For me the most important thing is the finishing – and that means a great tiler is the starting point, rather than a plumber who can do a bit of tiling! There’s some outside mitres to do (a couple of small alcoves) and inners scribed - and of course it’s all in stone, so you must have a wet tile saw with slide table, and have plenty of examples of your work. A one-man-band is fine as long as you can provide an Electrical Installation Certificate for the work, you have good plumbing, building (aqua panelling) skills, and you can complete the work within around ten days with a start date in April. This work is grant-aided with a top-up from the client (basically for upgraded tiling and steam), and full payment is made by the Council the day after the completion certificate is received by them – no 60-day wait for payment on these jobs. The downside is that all this type of work is zero-rated for VAT, so you will need to claim VAT back on your purchases in the normal way but when you invoice you won’t be charging VAT. So this means you’ll have to carry any VAT you’ve paid out on materials (around £1000-£1250) until it’s refunded by HMRC. The travertine is already bought and paid for and on site. Please PM me if this is of interest; Local Authority disability work is rewarding in that you’re helping someone with a disability, and of course is recession-proof and paid on the nail, so is good steady revenue if the Local Authority likes your work and you’re reliable.
