Firstly, apologies for not being on the forum as much as I should be for the past month or so. You can guarantee if I've not been on any of the forums (which is the case, but hard to tell if you only post on TilersForums.co.uk and not our other forums) for a while that it's something important offline I've had to be spending my time on, which is the case too. I'll be back online properly again soon. As always, if there's ever an issue that you need me for, PM me on the forum or email [email protected] and I'll reply as soon as I can. Now that's out of the way, I can tell you I'm posting this blog post to inform you of a bit of a…

Counting Down to WorldSkills with the UK Tiling Team

News, Tile Showrooms, Tiling Advice, Tiling Training
With the WorldSkills 2017 final in Abu Dhabi fast approaching, anticipation is rising for the UK Tiling Team. On Thursday 7th September, Schlüter-Systems caught up with them at the Greenbank Campus of Southern Regional College, Northern Ireland (SRC), to hand-deliver a couple of gifts prior to the start of this prestigious competition. Back in March, talented young tiler Armondas Tamulis from the college fought off tough competition from fellow student, Kieran Magee, to become the team’s chosen delegate. Schlüter Consultant for Ireland, James Callinan, presented Armondas with trousers and a kit holdall and asked him about his feelings on the competition. “I’m nervous but looking forward to WorldSkills, as it has been 4 years of training”, says Armondas, “I’d recommend the experience to anyone. You get to meet people from all…

Find a Tile Showroom

Find a Tile Showroom

Find a tile showroom in the UK using TilersForums.co.uk, [caption id="attachment_453" align="alignright" width="300"] Find a Tile Showroom in the UK[/caption] the UK's largest network of tile showrooms and tile fixers. We started out in 2006 primarily as a wall and floor tilers forum, but we're now starting to realise that a national tile showroom perhaps isn't the wise choice for the forum as a sole sponsor, and local retailers aren't big enough to cater for all areas. So we're now allowing all tile showrooms on the forum free of charge, as long as they're not there to only gain sales. Which just renders the advice biased and sometimes seems a bit desperate. So register to the forum, and hang in there, we'll have some showrooms on board right now and…

We've created this blog area mainly for Tiling News, and we've started to get a little news and press releases on it so it's starting to take shape now. We've got a few more pages to work on, they're in the main menu with not much content on them, but the actual tiling news blog area is there. And it's kinda working. We've asked companies to send us their news, and they've started to take it seriously and send [caption id="attachment_420" align="alignright" width="300"] Tiling News[/caption] in some bits and bobs. We'll be working more with them to get their news quicker, and to post it quicker once we have it. The idea being that people can engage with the tiling news right as it's published, via the forum. News in…

TilersForums.co.uk provides all of its many services to the wall and floor tiling industry free of charge. The Tile Association is using a comparison to one of the most expensive schemes going, CheckaTrade, but haven't used a comparison against something like our forum. So we've done it to show the differences. You might say it's the difference between oldskool board rooms and new web-based communities. Whilst they're trying to get with the times with their social presence and marketing, they're still using oldskool tactics to sell membership. And tilers aren't thick. They see through things like this on a daily basis in tile showrooms that use the same tactics. TilersForums.co.uk was setup a few years after TTA. And while on their homepage they boast having the most tilers and tile…
