What to fill this gap with? - Tile Advice

Need to tile my vestibule but theres a large 5 by 4 inch deep gap behind the door that someone has previously filled with wood and expanding foam.

What would be best to fill this gap with ready for tile?

First thought was just cement but prob would create a rising damp issue there I guess.

Oh to add, I'd dig all the wood and foam out first!

If it’s as deep as you say, l would use a fast setting concrete on a plastic dpc vertical and horizontal also fold at ends.

What about a thick brush on type stuff then fill with concrete?

That would also work , an aqueous bitumen type compound.

I just used Blue Circle Quick Repair Concrete on a similar trench in floor and it worked a treat, would recommend.

Not sure why l got a dislike ? above, for suggesting an aqueous bitumen solution could be used instead of a physical dpc as first suggested, it’s mainly used as a tanking and dpc membrane, usually requiring two or three coats.
