Hi folks,

So bought my first house a year ago and have recently ripped out the shower room to start again.

I've opted to go for Wedi which is already up on the walls and have also built a 100mm concealing wall now boarded with Wedi utilising their rather expensive washers.

I'm now at the point where I need to seal over the washers/any other slight imperfections (ie slipping on the screw-head and putting a tiny hole in the board) but I'm loathed to use their £18 a tube Wedi 610 sealant/adhesive - can anyone tell me if there are any alternatives or whether I can actually use anything else, please?

It's been a dream working with Wedi despite its quite high price point but their extra's from sealant through to washers is rediculous.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You could use a self adhesive waterproof tape . I use one from codex but I am able to by it by the metre from my supplier . You could also waterproof screw heads with something like Mapei mapeiguard tanking .

CTD sell "boardfix" from Jackon.
Essentially the same elastomeric sealant but about half the price.

Bear in mind that if you use something "non-specific", then any warranty will be invalid.
But if you ever needed the warranty, it would be down to installer error anyway!
You pays your money and takes your chances!

(why were Wedi washers expensive?! Did you get stainless steel?)
