good morning all, I’ve got a customer who’s had a shower installed in their bathroom when there was only a bath before. The plumber has chased the pipe work for the shower into the walls. It’s an old property and the walls aren’t the best! My question is can you still use a waterproofing kit on plastered walls?? I’ve never faced this before so any advice on any aspect of the installation would be appreciated, regards, Stu.

Yes you can. Use the scrim/ banding over the pipe chases to fully cover the gap. What kit are you using?

If you can, slide on some celafelt over the pipes then wet down before you fill the chase. Unless it’s filled already of course. This will allow the pipes to expand and contract without affecting the substrate.

No issue with tanking into plaster but I would do a little test area first. Difficult to recommend a brand of tanking without sounding like a sales rep.........
