hi all

I’m looking at laying thermal boards on top of floor boards, then under floor heating, then self levelling, then tile.

Is this advised? Is the thermal board strong and sturdy enough to take place of a ply or cement board in this instance ?

Thanks in advance

Yes mate.
Fix any loose boards.
Check for deflection in the floor and rectify.
Prime the boards with acrylic primer.
Lay boards with powdered flexi adhesive and back skim the boards.
Fix with screws and wedi washers.

I would recommend using 10 mm boards for strength and insulation properties.
If the floor is really good, you could use 6mm.

Great, thanks very much.

Just checking... is it not enough to screw the boards down with washers ? Would you stick them down with https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ also ?
