Just after some advice from fellow tilers . What are people charging a metre to fit porcelanosa xlight tiles, they're the 8mm thick 1200 x 600mm sheets.

Think I'm right that the majority of members here who can and do install large format, wouldn't charge by the metre anyway. That's more a commercial situation? Too many variables with large format to give metre rates in my opinion.

Rookery

Always day rate, having considered how long it should take me with all the known variables.

Dumbo

Ok large ultra large specialists on average how many metres on a good and on a bad day

2m on a bad day, 100+ on a good day.
Way too many variables for quoting like commercial work.

Yes they are bookmatched tiles. I'm doing it on my standard day rate for the plumber who's job it is as I fancied the challenge . They had a quote from the installer recommended by porcelanosa and it was over ÂŁ12k for 3 bathrooms just for the tile . I realise that's silly money but equally I can see as a specialist tile fit there is money to be made so wondered what people considered a fair price for future reference. I know there's a lot of variables so just looking for guidance. Ie would it be twice the fitting cost of standard porcelain tiles or less or more etc

You have to factor in the specialist cutting and handling tools, and who takes responsibility for breakages etc

In a limited market there is decent money to be made IF you've the skill required along with the tools. Ask yourself, why should a hairdresser get upwards of ÂŁ70 an hour, yet we are grateful for ÂŁ20?!
I tiled a wetroom in 2 x 12hr days and the customer complained I was too expensive versus the time it took.
Quite simply said (what I learnt on this forum) do you want to pay for the years of blood sweat and tears it took to be able to work so fast and to that standard?
Never be afraid to ask for decent money, but be prepared to 1) justify it and 2) deliver what's promised.
When it comes to large format pricing, on tricky domestic jobs, factor in :
Access problems, area to set up tools, time spent making templates, who is responsible for spares and breakages, time constraints, tools you may need but haven't got. I always factor in a day to set up tables and tools and a day just to stand around drinking coffee and planning the job.
If anyone questions your prices, invite them to get other quotes, be sure to point out the specialist skills, tools and experience required to install such expensive tiles.
Any customer worth working for will see sense, any customer who is just looking for a cheapest quote isn't worth working for in my opinion and deserves what they get.
