Tiling my front path today, old concrete slab that has no cracks and is in pretty good nick. Took the decision not to break up and lay new slab. Was thinking give it a sand and clean, prime, lay bal Matt, then tile. Any thoughts gents?

Jet wash it and scrub it clean. Once it's properly dry, prime with prime + grip. Then tile as normal.

That's what I would do anyway

Save your money on the bal mat.
there's no cracks after all this time so its stable! and its probably got some hardcore or sand underneath the concrete so that in effect is the uncoupling membrane..

No need for bal mat IMO... you going just red and cream or you throwing some black ones in there as well. Love quarry tile paths

yes, says aston, would avoid the membrane and also primer, it might ascent moisture and primers could create problems.
only problem I see is the curb on the right. if it moves. (Put silicone?)

Just keeping it red and cream, bordering with red, hope moisture doesn't build up!!! Though it's my own house so not the end of the world!!!
