I have a task to create a bunch of custom kitchen cabinets, and need a way to cut up plywood accurately while also leaving a nice edge finish.
I do not have a tablesaw and do not plan to get one due to having nowhere to store it.

I'm currently looking at this 136mm compact Makita 18v circular saw, I like the form factor of it very much + all my other tools are 18v makita as well so I need to stick to the system I already have.

-Would these circular saws be good for such task? I suspect I would need a better saw blade with finer tooth to achieve a better finish, but is it doable?
-Maybe anyone has this exact saw and can comment how good/bad it is?
-Will I be able to achieve a good finished edge while cutting plywood with such saw?
-Also are there any tracks you can buy for these saws so it can be used as a track saw? Or you can only use them with DIY made ''tracks''?
unfortunately my budget doesn't stretches to a good dedicated tracksaw + I think a circular saw is a more universal tool suitable for more tasks in future?

What do u think guys?

I think you're best off trying to find a chippys forum. Somebody here may be able to help though. Have you contacted Makita technical support?

You'd be better with a plunge saw that comes with 1.4m guide tracks if you're struggling for space. Cost about £400, use it for the job, sell and build the cost into your quote.

Sort your cutting list, take it to the timber yard, collect perfectly cut, square, panels from said yard a day or 2 later. Job done.

a circular saw will do it but remember to have your finished edge on the underside of your cut as the circular saw cuts on the upwards rotation therefore will chip the ply. personally I would get them cut at a timber yard exactly then notch the backs out, grove them with the circular saw. this is a tiling forum though haha but good luck anyway.

I will make a guide rail like this myself

Can anyone suggest what blade I would need to get a smooth cut in ply with this saw?
The saw comes with 16tooth standard makita blade, I really like Freud blades for my other tools but seems like they don't make it in this 136mm size, what's the next best thing?
I found this 36tooth makita blade myself Makita B-09210 136mm x 10mm x 36T Specialized Circular Saw Blade - https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Makita-B-09210-0088381337250-136Mm-X-10Mm-X-36T-Specialized-Circular-Saw-Blade

36 tooth will be fine, but on your fence... make sure the bed of the saw is flat on the wood or it will chip the ply and won't give you that perfect cut you're after.

Sorry. Missed this thread. I've got the 18v brushless model and got a makita adaptor for £45 which allows it to use the plunge saw rails.
I've got it really for cutting wedi and kerdi board but it is every bit as good as any other saw. I upgraded my blade and the cut is superb.
You'll need to ask a makita dealer about the adapter as its still new...

I see you've jumped in and bought a saw but I was going to back up pdc suggestion of having the sheets cut by the supplier - I've had some 15mm conti and lots 6mm/12mm ply cut at B&Q and they can cut to an excellent finish and to the mm if you supply a half decent plan.
What are you planning to cover the raw edge of the ply with as even a good edge is still stripey!
