Discuss Levelling systems & when to use them in the Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.co.uk.
Please do! I need it for the morning
Good man. Thanks callatiler
Do tile levelling systems ever pull the tile from the addy bed? Leaving a void?
Tile Giant sell flat clips - very similar to the Chinese type - Oh wait ....they are the Chinese type.
With incorrect prep of the substrate or poor attention to adhesive bed depth yes, it can easily cause a void. Not a massive void, but it can be done.
So yesterday I called into my local tile shop and noticed they has stock of the genesis easy wedge system which he said was selling well. Not cheap obviously. I got one of the schmox bases out of the van to compare and it is absolutely identical, I've no doubt they come from the same factory
So.. on e the first wall in this wet room I used the crap vitrex levellers, all other walls I used tile rite. Guess which wall 3 tiles fell off????
Why are the bases curved?!!
How could they fall off with a solid bed?
Have you got a pic of the levelling system you used?
How could a tile fall off no matter what clip is used?
Should take a bit more force than a little chunk of plastic to pull a tile off a wall, are you using a suitable size trowel and back skimming the tiles?
And the bases are thicker plastic so you have to hit them harder with the mallet..
I’ve no idea, but when I looked at the back of the tile there was hardly any contact with the adhesive. Ain’t like I used a different trowel depth so why would only 3 tiles not contact but all others are fine?
Did you back butter the tiles? Or back trowel them? What size tiles are we talking? Which adhesive?
