Large quartz tiles - Tile Advice

Hi, looking for help. I had my shower tiled in 600 x quartz tiles about 4 or 5 years ago. Over the last 12 months cracks have appeared in the grout on the top 3 rows of tiles and they have started to protrude. I have removed the offending tiles and found that they have only been fixed with dot and dab. All tiles below this level have been done properly and assume the top tiles were done in this way because the wall leans away slightly and needs plastering or boarding on the top half so would have needed about 30mm of adhesive. Not happy tackling the plastering or retailing myself so would appreciate if somebody could quote me for this. I have cleaned up all the old tiles and had the foresight to buy 4 or 5 spares just in case. Thanks

Before you get a tiler make sure this advice is heeded.

You have a few problems to overcome before having it retiled.

Plaster is not sufficient for these tiles to be fixed on. There are weight limits for plaster which most quartz tiles will exceed.

It would be best to mechanically fix tile board to the existing walls, if possible.

Also, a stronger type of adhesive is normally needed for quartz tiles because of the resin in the tiles.

Do you have any photos to help with understanding the why and how best to proceed?

Thanks for your reply. See attached photos. The first shows the extent of the tiles I needed to remove. The second shows the thickness the tile needs to be including board/plaster/adhesive. The tile is 10mm and the depth in the top right corner to bring it into plumb including the thickness of the tile is 38mm. At the bottom right it is 25mm, bottom left 23mm and top left 24mm. I was looking at 6mm backboard and layering this in the top right corner making sure any fixings went through both layers?

Personally, I would remove all of them and start again as those walls are not suitable.

Poorly prepared walls, poor technique used to fix the tiles and it’s unlikely the correct adhesive was used with a specialised tile material.

And no waterproofing in the shower.

Someone might be able to re fix the tiles but they would in no way be able to guarantee the rest of the work which has all been done incorrectly.
