Hi All,

Currently pricing up a bathroom for floor to ceiling tiles, the wall substrate is concrete block, bonding, new plaster where previous tiles were removed and painted original plaster. The tiles the customer has purchased are 600x400x0.8 porcelain, without looking i know that with the addition of grout/addy that this brings the Kg/m2 close to, if not over the 20kg/m2 weight limit for plastered walls.

Plastered walls are in good solid condition and would obviously be prepared with paint removal and sbr etc but would just like some feedback of how people would approach quoting for the preparation of this job

Cheers

Tiles, https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ and grout would be very likely to exceed the recommended tile weight for plaster so you should not fix. Alternatives is mechanically fix (Orbry) tile backer board onto the plaster with Orbry Spankers or similar, remove plaster and dry line with (Orbry) tile backer board or plaster board if not a wet area, or render with sand and cement.
