Sorry for the delay in response we forwarded the question to the R&D team in Greece

After speaking with the chemist, the following apply:

There is a specific standard based on which there are measurements of the adhesion strength on waterproofing membranes. This standard is EN14891. The adhesion strength required to pass the test is 0,5 N/mm2.

The measurements we had were 0,8-0,9 N/mm2. This means that ISOMAT AK-22 certainly passes the test for the use we propose it.

So the answer is that it indeed falls, but it is still over what the relevant EN standard defines. (This applies only to ISOMAT AK-22, as this is the only tile adhesive we tested so far and in any way this is the tile adhesive we recommend up to now)

Hope this helps

Many thanks: Russell Jay Isomat Branch Manager

sorry Russell, maybe I'm misunderstanding you,
does your tanking system, alter the weight carrying capacity of the substrate below?

Hi Mark, the tanking SL17 doesn't alter the weight carrying capacity of the substrate, its a liquid membrane applied in 2coats, consumption approx 1kg/m2.

What is does alter is pull off resistance. Say AK22 - C2TE S1 adhesive has adhesive
Strength of >1.9N/mm2, if applied to solid substrate.
When SL17 gets applied to solid substrate, followed by AK22 applied to SL17
the strenght of bond goes down to 0.8-0.9N/mm2 which is fine for standard
Wetrooms, showers etc, but will have inpact on Applying big heavy Marble tiles in combination with SL17. For this application we would recommend using Uncoupling/waterproofing membrane and mechanical fixings.
Hope it make sense. Any other questions, let me know.
In terms of adhesives, please observe the pot life, we are really good at that,
6hours minimum pot life on slow set and 90min pot life on fast set with 20min open time and pointing after 1hour. Best to try to believe...m
