Help needed with mosaic splashback - Tile Advice

Hello looking for a bit of advice. I’m planning on doing a splash back above my sink. So far I have the tiles and trim. Was wondering what’s the best adhesive and grout to use as there is glass tiles on the mosaic sheet and I’ve also heard that the tiles need treated with something after the tiles are on and grout has dried etc if you could recommend what I use. Would I cut and fit the trim to the wall before I put tiles onto wall, or would I put tiles onto wall then place cut pieces of trim in behind the tiles. Thanks

Personally I would ditch the trim, never looks right with mosiacs...imo.

Thanks for the reply, you defo reckon ditch the trim it’s a straight edged chrome trim? Without the trim would I just grout around the edges? If you were installing the tiles I’ve posted above what colour of grout would you recommend thanks again

Also I’m going to need to trim the edges as the edges are staggered, some of the outer tiles are metal so was thinking once trimmed them it might leave a hole at the side of the metal, unless I changed the side tiles so that none are metal?

You need to cut them with a wet cutter to make them square.
You can use trim, but the small mosiac pieces of tile will stick out under the trim and you will struggle to get them to stick to the wall where the trim is..

This is what I would do- cut the trim for all three sides, mitring the edges. Then bond the trim on with a hot glue gun. Then stick on some of the self adhesive mosaic backing sheets onto the wall. Then trowel the wall up with rapid set (flat edge of he trowel) once set trowel the wall with the serrated edge of the trowel and bed the mosaics on.

Trowelling the wall with a flat trowel will give you a decent surface. You might want to not bother with the self adhesive sheet depending on thickness of mosaic against your chrome trim.

Ok, I’m not going to use the trim now.

For cutting the staggered edges what’s the best type of blade for an angle grinder to use on glass and stone?

Should I move the metal mosaic tile somewhere else on the backing sheet so that there’s no ragged edges on the metal mosaic at the finished edge?

Also at the same time as grouting the tiles would I just run the grout around the edges of the splash back to make a finished edge as I’m not using trim now? Thanks very much for your help

Use a diamond blade for cutting.

Also make sure your grout is unsanded as there is a chance it may scratch your mosiacs.

Use a white adhesive. Use a montolit cutter with a mosaic mat to snap them. If you need to cut with a grinder use a variable speed one with a blade suitable for glass. Montolit do one. As its a small area the metal ones can be cut seperately if necessary . Also instead of using tile trim why not use the rectangles to create a frame and cut into that? looks much nicer. I did the same with these Fired Earth mosaics.
