wee boy racer kind of guy drove into the back of the van the other day,
its away to the garage to get looked at, insurance have gave me a van to get around, and the estimator from garage phoned the day saying he was not sure if the van would be getting fixed,
apart from how annoying this is turning out to be, i dont think the van will be a write of, and i have told them i want it back on road as it is a good but older vw transporter and i dont think the insurance will give me enough money for it
anyone got any tips in dealing with insurance companies, this is my first time

Get three expensive examples of the same year and mileage of your van from gum tree, auto trader, eBay etc (I've known guys to pay to list one they haven't actually got, to up the average pay out for theirs) and they are meant to take an average and pay you that. As if you want to buy one the same, that's what you'll need in cash off them.

Don't accept anything less. Whether it's their first or 10th offer.

Your own insurance firm shouldn't be too fussed. It's a rear end jobby. Whatever they pay you out, they'll get more from the other party.

I'm not one for them old whiplash claims but if it helped get your van back, if they do try and cut you short, then go get a checkup and threaten it to the loss adjuster.

Go to the docs so it is recorded as you don't know what can happen with a little bump.
I was at the southern general in Glasgow today for tests on nerves going down my arm from a car smash April 2014, I've had pain in my elbow since the smash & it restricts a lot of what I do.
Attended the Physio for over a year, been for numerous X-rays, been for MRI scans & had a lot of days off work because of it.
Get checked out..

Time's Ran Out

A lady went into the back of my van.
They wrote off the Astra van because the back tailgate wouldn't shut!
They gave us 1200, I bought it off them for 300 and sold it for 700.
Only time I've ever made money off a vehicle.

If it has or will cost you, get yourself checked.

I'm same as Teej, always buy lemons and have never made a penny on a car. I had an escort RS Turbo that cost me
3000, paid 750 per month on a new engine, swapped it for a crosser worth 200 quid.

Had a scooby worth 5k, cost me a gear box per month at a grand, sold it for 3k broken as I was sick of it.

garage phoned the to day and said they have started repairs on the van, i am glad as the van is decent, they have given ma a new transit high top to use. also went to the docs to get my hand knee and back looked at,
went to work for a while but my arms are aching so gave it up after about an hour..
it is a total pain had to get someone else in for kitchen and i think i will need to get someone to do a bathroom for me too,

That will all make up the uninsured part of your claim. Make sure you have paperwork to back up all of the losses and expenses you are incurring. You have a valid claim and shouldn't be out of pocket for something that wasn't your fault.

meant to be starting a job up in the western isles on thursday . i hadto phone the insurance company today to ask about my own van, they said i might be getting the van back on friday, when i told them i was going to harris to do this job they told me that if my van is available for pick up on friday i must return hire van or i will be paying for the hire of it myself and i would be paying for storage of my own van,
the problem with this is i wont be back until monday, .. the insurance girl i spoke to basically told me i had to be here to return van as soon as i my van was ready, ,, when i mentioned that i would then loose job she might as well have shrugged her shoulders . when i mentioned claiming back money for lost earnings like this she said i didnt buy the legal protection and it would not be worth my while..
how utterly faceless and terrible are insurance companies to deal with ,
