Are you talking about in a window reveal? Cut edge against the window. Good edge against the trim. Same with niches and tiles that happen to be near another wall when the other end of the tile is against the trim. Clear as mud right ?!

advice, nobody has mentioned a window or niche

As we all know, there are also many situations where you would have a cut edge against the trim.

As above then. That’s how I tend to do it. However it does depend how Plumb the wall is.

You will normally have cut edges on the outside of the window, you would then fit your trim inside and then have good edge to trim and
the cut to the frame. As stated by Waluigi
