materials
Material is a substance or mixture of substances that constitutes an object. Materials can be pure or impure, living or non-living matter. Materials can be classified based on their physical and chemical properties, or on their geological origin or biological function. Materials science is the study of materials and their applications.
Raw materials can be processed in different ways to influence their properties, by purification, shaping or the introduction of other materials. New materials can be produced from raw materials by synthesis.
In industry, materials are inputs to manufacturing processes to produce products or more complex materials.

Wondered what the method of sealing the join between floor and wall materials was?
My understanding was for wet rooms and showers it's a tape and tanking job, but say outwith wet areas in a bathroom, between wall and floor insulation boards or plasterboard should it be fibre taped and adhesive?
I'm laying tiles over existing tiles, an additional space to the left will be tiled over as well (photo attached), I've fixed 12mm hardboard to the wall to level off the difference. Gaps have been filled with foam. Do I need to fix scrim tape with compound over the joints between the hardboard...

Is there one place you go when sourcing materials other than tiles and adhesives? Like timber and materials the tile shops don't stock? Or do you guys shop around and end up driving here n there for the cheapest? Cheers

I've recently put a spreadsheet together for all material costings so that I can gauge jobs a bit better. As a default, I marked up all materials by 30%. Do you think this is a fair mark up or otherwise?
