hey there, long time no speak. I’m helping a friend tile their bathroom and they wish to waterproof the floor with an isolation membrane (ditra). Looking at the floorboards, I’m wondering if it would be advisable to overboard first with some cement/insulation boards?
Cheers
Hi All,
I’m ripping out a failed existing tiled floor. Tiles had not been back buttered so they popped off easily enough. I’m now confronted with a layer of tile adhesive, a layer of self levelling compound of varying thickness (6-12mm) covering electric underfloor heating mat which is on top...
Hi,
Can't seem to find a solid answer as I realise so much depends on multiple factors.
I'm planning to tile my kitchen floor with 8mm porcelain floor tiles (660x440mm).
My kitchen floor is mostly wooden floorboards (house built in 1925), with a strip of concrete along the party wall from...
I'm laying Ditra in my bedroom on concrete & using porcelain tiles. I just realized I used Modified under my Ditra. I was 40% done when I realized. What are my options?
Hello guys,
I'm doing a wetroom and will be using Ditra Heat Duo membrane for the UFH. I looked at Kerdi Boards for walls and Kerdi LTS for the shower tray but these are double the price of for example Jackboard so I thought of using that on walls and shower tray instead but my question is how...
Hello,
Hopefully someone can advise as I'm confused when it comes to choosing correct adhesive when working with tiles or decoupling membrane.
1. I'm doing a wetroom with plywood subfloor + ditra UFH membrane
What adhesive do I need to adhere the matting to the plywood? I've looked at Ardex...
So, on the ground floor there is a wet underfloor heating system. It is using pipes that were installed into grooved ProWarm boards. On top of that is about 4cm of concrete. The current install then has floor tiles which had the adhesive directly on the concrete. For other reasons, all the floor...
Good morning everyone,
I'm new here and a DIY'er. I've completed custom shower builds before using schluter products with great success. That being said this is my first installation of DITRA in my current bathroom reno. My question is around DITRA's durability before the tile is laid on it. As...
Hi, a long time since I have been here but back for some advice/reassurance !
About to tile my kitchen floor (its a very long running project!). The space was a double garage so has a concrete floor on top of which sits joists. Joists are at 400 centres and sit about 60mm above the concrete and...
Aloha everyone.
I've embarked on a bathroom remodel. I opted to use the hydro block shower pan and system. When I notched my joists and set my presloped pan, I've ended up flush with the existing wood subfloor. As such, now if I put any hardi board on top of subfloor, the transition to the...
Hi everyone,
I'm having the majority of the ground floor of my house tiled (35m²) and I'm not sure which way to go from a subfloor / prep perspective. Here is the current set-up:
Suspended timber floor at 450mm centres
Wet underfloor heating system between joists in a pug screed
Tiny bit of...
Hey There,
I'm tiling 3' by 6" ceramic tiles over DITRA in a herringbone pattern. I can only do several tiles at a time, because of time constraints. So I do a little area and place the tiles, but of course there's all the excess thin set from either spillage or just going a little too far...
I'm preparing this floor for tile. I had screwed down an extra layer of 5/8 plywood but have left it off near the edge of the room because it jumps about 1/2" in elevation near the perimeter. I've filled in most of this gap now with a patching compound (Custom Skim Coat and Patch.) Now I just...
I've got a room with a two-layer plywood subfloor that is fairly flat (not level) but the floor ramps up at the perimeter fairly sharply. I'm going to be using Ditra for the installation (only for uncoupling - not worried about waterproofing). Rather than trying to raise the entire floor to...
Hi guys
We are laying porcelain tiles 120 x 120 on a c30 dry screed on top of wet under floor heating 55m2 and I would like know if we need to use a Ditra Matt or tile straight to screed with a flexible tile adhesive ?
Thanks
Raff
I'm tiling our bathroom, some basics - floor: 3/4" OSB T&G, 12" I-joists, 16" on center, new construction. I'm using the Schluter/Ditra-Heat uncoupling membrane but no heat cable under the tub that will be going in. The tub: Kohler slipper tub with four 1" dia. stainless legs and a composite...
We just had a 1.5 sq. m area of floor tiled professionally in our ensuite.
The base floor is 18 mm chipboard and is screwed down hard to the joists, but dips down by a max. of around 4 to 5 mm in places.
When laying the tiles, the tiler followed the floor precisely, and hence the finished...
Hi everyone, I'm tiling a 150 meter square meters onto a anhydrite screed. Laitance has been removed by sanding, the screed is dry, was laid 3 months ago.
The screeder recommended to use Anhyfix by Tilemaster adhesives. I am also installing Ditra matt before tiling.
Started laying the ditra...
