blade
A blade is the portion of a tool, weapon, or machine with an edge that is designed to puncture, chop, slice or scrape surfaces or materials. Blades are typically made from materials that are harder than those they are to be used on. Historically, humans have made blades from flaking stones such as flint or obsidian, and from various metal such as copper, bronze and iron. Modern blades are often made of steel or ceramic. Blades are one of humanity's oldest tools, and continue to be used for combat, food preparation, and other purposes.
Blades work by concentrating force on the cutting edge. Certain blades, such as those used on bread knives or saws, are serrated, further concentrating force on the point of each tooth.
Hi,
I bought a (let's say) DIY wet saw for a few projects around the house (they may include porcelain) and have made some good right angle/curved cuts to some sacrificial unglazed tiles with the blade included. Having made a couple of cuts to a glazed ceramic tile, the blade is doing less...
Hi all,
I've brought an Evolution R210CMS mitre saw for cutting tile trims. It comes with a T20 tct multipurpose blade.
The issue I'm having is when I cut steel trim, it keeps kicking back and bending the trim.
My question is, do I need to buy the T68 blade for cutting finer metals? Or is it...
I have not yet found a suitable new tile cutter, the IQ dry cutter is out of stock and then the Sigma 9p is no longer available and dont like the look of the new ones they have released.
So need to replace the Briccolina blade but having trouble finding something for Porcelain, the only blades I...
Hello guys, I'm new to the forum :)
So you know my skill level.., I'm currently training at a Construction school in wall & floor tiling, due to qualify in June 2021.
Next month, I'm tiling my brothers kitchen and he wants a steel trim fitting. I will be using a hacksaw and mitre block to...
Need to cut a few awkward shapes round a door and to tile against shower tray, I have a wet cutter but need a jigsaw blade. Does anyone know if the diamond jigsaw blades that Topps Tiles do are any good???
Hey All
I recently had an absolute nightmare cutting 300 x 300 mixed mosaic tiles. They were a mix of glass and metal mosaics. My wet cutter struggled to cut through both materials and when it came to the metal ones they just ripped off the backing.
Anyone know of a blade that would do the job...
Hi can anyone advise me on how to fit a 22mm bore blade on to my vitrex 750 wet cutter? I’ve been told that you can change something around on it but not quite sure. Many thanks
Bought a Marcrist 650 tiling blade for the grinder. Getting a lot of chips, tried masking whilst tile secured with wood block for guide. Still getting chips on the ceramic tiles.
How long would you say a blade takes to run in?
Hi, I've borrowed my Dad's old Performance Power FMTC550TC electric tile cutter and the blade is pretty blunt. I'll be tiling around my bath with 60×35×9cm porcelain tiles - which 180mm blade would you recommend?
unfortunately after tiling the kitchen I realized I want to end the tile about 6 inches back where it currently meets a hardwood floor
for a cleaner transition line. see pics for showing the line I want to cut back, about 6 inches, my line would be the masking tape.
I would like the new tile...
Any good? I'm after the cleanest edge possible from a dry cut grinder blade.

Hi everyone
I was kindly given an older used Rubi ND180 smart wet cutter, it’s not in the best condition but it works and will do me for a while as I’m just starting out.
I’ve taken the disc out as it needs replacing. I’m just looking for some advice on whether you think stick to Rubi wet...

A while ago we had a blade company on the forum that manufactured in the UK. Think it was a small engineering firm. Can't remember their name or their cutter blade name. Or anything in fact.
Gone are the days of a rollerdex lol
I'm sure we would have had threads about them.
@Lou any clue?
The cutting of Porcelain tiles, 16mm, with a Vitrex bridge saw, has been very successful, holding cuts of 900mm to 0.4mm.
BUT
All the blades I have tried, ATS, Marcrist and Rubi, have all started to cut off centre.
I have dressed the blade with a Rubi cleaning block and this will improve...
Any recommendations for a blade for cutting a lot of 16mm porcelain tiles, in a bridge cutter?
I read that Marcrist CK850 is a good blade? A 200mm one is nearly £80.
I am cutting 16mm porcelaine paving with a Vitrex bridge cutter.
I fitted a Vitrex Ultimate blade to replace the standard blade. It cuts better, with less chipping but on a 600mm cut it walks off line by 3mm.
The saw runs true and the standard blade cuts true but it chips like a MF.
So any...
