Approximately how thick should adhesive be for floor tiles? Tiler only using 2mm thick

:)Floor adhesive should be laid at a minimum of 5mm, once laid and bed this will be reduced, so 2mm is not unacceptable, and it might be in a high point, but tiles as mentioned should also be back buttered to meet the required 100% coverage, judging by adhesive used he is not doing the job...

What Angle do you hold the trowel at ?

Use a thick bed floor trowel, a 10mm trowel will give you 5mm at 45 degrees, 10mm at 90 degrees, you should make sure your using a scolloped trowel not square toothed to get full bed. You can get floor trowels from notch depth of 10-30mm.

Water UFH Relaying lifted tiles on suspended floor (water UFH)

Hi, it will be fine laying new tiles over existing ply, assuming it is well fixed, remove as much existing adhesive (or all if poss) if not flat you could use a rubber based leveling compound, to get flat without extra depth, and ensure that its primed and correct adhesive used!
