What are the typical margins for tiles in the UK

I am a small retailer and get approached on a monthly basis by people who wish to import tiles - mainly India at the moment. You first need to decide what sort of service you will offer - room lot/box quantity ordering (including samples?) or pallet quantity only? The smaller the quantity you...

    Wetroom tray setting out

Maybe not, I believe that there is a Turkish factory that are now making these - in porcelain. They are quoted as satin rather than matt (so a slight sheen to them). Possibly not the best quality - but probably better than the originals? Get a sample to check that the good lady will be happy...

    Wetroom tray setting out

Ummmm - how do I put this . . . Yes! Search BCT on here and see for yourself. They went out of business earlier in the year. When did you buy the tiles? Make sure that you have plenty before you start. Lots of tile retailers bought their clearance stock - at very low prices. But there is...

    Wetroom tray setting out

Please check the tiles to ensure that there is no significant variation in size from tile to tile before you start. Please also check that the glaze is good and reaches each of the edges. Are you sure that they are 315mm? They are supposed to be 331mm I think . . .

They look like BCT Laura Ashley Mr Jones tile, if so then 3mm spacer would be advisable . . .

New member here...question on adhesive for matting.

An admix to a standard set S1 will give S2 flexibility - but I had heard the same as @Paul C.

    Bathroom tile layout

498x148 sounds like it could be a BCT tile. If so, I think that most tilers would recommend a larger spacer in case the tiles are a bit "sizey".

    Nicobond Nicobond S2 grey Rapid

Most adhesive is 1 year - I don't know specifically about Nicobond. I've also been told that the short date is due to the anti-irritant becoming ineffective after 12 months - rather than the performance of the adhesive - which should last a good while longer. But I'm not an expert.

    External self levelling ideas?

Tilemaster Flexilevel can be used outside under certain conditions - I think that if it is not the finished surface and won't be subject to long periods of sitting water - but double check with their tech dept.

Weber Weber set plus suitable with underfloor heating or not?

I was once told (possibly by a BAL rep - but cannot be 100% sure) that C2 is fine for wet UFH but S1 is recommended for electric. I have never seen this written on any bags or in any tech sheets - so it might just be an urban myth. Maybe it is more prone to failure with a 200w mat with the...

    Large format popped around edges

A good idea - the issues are that I'm no expert, and there are more than one way of doing things correctly . . . People sometimes just think I'm trying to sell them more stuff!

    Large format popped around edges

I agree that retailers do need to step up their game - but it can be very difficult. Generally, I sell the tiles to the householder. The likelihood of them knowing anything about anhydrite screeds and RH readings is little or none. Then when you add in anti-fracture matting, expansion joints...
