    Friends bathroom refit timescales

Too many variables to give an accurate timescale but would normally allow a minimum of 8 days on a small complete rip out

Tiling Rates Per Square Meter / Per Day – How much do tilers charge?

Usually price the job as a whole and separate out materials ( adhesives/ backer board/ slc/ decoupling / trims / grouts/ silicones/ diamond bits etc and tiles if I’m supplying) with a separate quote for labour at 200 a day unless I’m staying away then it’s + expenses. If it’s fix only then per...

Tiling Standards (BS 5385) | British Wall and Floor Tiling Standards - IN FULL

I'm guessing the installer was on a price or on a time...I've always taken my time setting out purposely to avoid problems like this..if you've got a room with a bath, couple of windows and maybe a shower tray then it can take a while to get your head round how it's going to work out and I...

Metro tile spacers, 4mm. Is it going to look awful?

From your photo you've only got 13 tiles to take off and start again. Find and mark the centre of each wall to be tiled, you can then determine the best way to set the tiles out to avoid awkward unsightly cuts into corners. It's worth spending a bit of time doing this. If you are tiling up...

What would you guys have done?

I often get asked to give a price on jobs I haven't seen. If it's a regular client then it's usually ok as you can negotiate around any issues...otherwise I'll only ever give a written (emailed) estimate with a caveat that it is only an estimate and is subject to alteration if further...

Removing skirting for wall tiles, floor already tiled.

If your going to overboard the walls then to avoid a step you'll need to board to ceiling height. Alternatively remove the skirtings, tile down to the floor and then cover the gap between the wall and floor tiles with scotia/quadrant

    Re-useable lippage clips

I have some of these (bought of Ebay and shipped from China..arrived three days later!)..They work well on smaller format tiles and are ok as an emergency on larger formats..wouldn't use them on ultra thins...They take a bit of getting used to..need to hold the orange part in place whilst...

    Kitchen order of finishing off

If it's a Howdens kitchen and they are supplying and installing the quartz worktops then I'd speak to their fitters first. All the Howdens jobs I've done the quartz is delivered by Howdens and their installers cut and fit on site. They don't template for quartz.

Advice needed on job finished today please

If he's used a tubbed adhesive they will probably come off fairly easily and you may be able to re-use a lot of them after they've been cleaned up (leave them to soak in hot water them scrape the adhesive off the backs). You MUST give him the opportunity to come back and put it right within a...

    Setting out Herringbone pattern

Takes a bit of thinking about but once you get going it's easy. Be VERY precise about your 45 cuts..it only takes one dodgy cut to upset the lot
