I am laying some large format tiles 100cm x 50cm soon and i always thought the gaps should be 4mm plus ? however you see many tile jobs with small gaps eg, 2mm ?
I would really appreciate some feedback please

The area they are being fitted too plays a part in the spacing, where are they going ?

Also where are you getting the tiles from , this may reflect on quality of sizing and therefore have a knock on with tile spacing

The main thing to do is get the walls level.

Tell yourself that a perfectly plumb wall is the shortest possible distance from the bottom of the wall to the top.

If your adjacent wall isn’t Plumb then that same point from the bottom of the wall to the top of your wall will be longer so the spacing between tiles has to increase.

Hi All,
perhaps i did not explain myself properly so apologies,
the floor is 75 Sq meters, 40 Sq meters of this is is a perfect rectangle for a new built extension, the rest is through a hall way and kitchen / Diner.
The tile sizes again are 100 cm x 50 cm and to clarify what tile gaps would you be looking at ?

If the tiles are rectified i would use 3mm if not then i would
use 4mm

I think I read recently the B.S. has changed re joint sizes for large format tiles, not that 1 x .5 is counted as large, or maybe it is under the B.S.
