What seems a bit of a stupid question but having watched videos on youtube of people demonstrating the use of washing up liquid in silicone forming whenever I use an empty bottle of say Dettol etc I get about 3 squirts and then the spray mechanism gives up. Presume this is due to the washing up liquid and seals any recommendations for a bottle that works?

Cheers

I've been trying this method quite a bit recently as I never used to do it, be carefull how you apply the silicone first as I feel the soapy water can get behind the silicone in places and stop it sticking to the tile, although it may look smooth and good

Yes I'm aware that too much liquid can get behind the silicone on the wall and stop it sticking long term. Even in low concentrations of washing up liquid say 10% the spray mechanism just gives up. Maybe I have just been unlucky but after three different bottles was beginning to wonder.

Tend to find that leaves too much liquid on the tool or my finger which then makes matters worse. Can see the advantage of a light sprayer keeping things tidy.

Got to find a spray bottle that produces a very fine mist so that you are not soaking silicone. Hairdressers have good ones but they won't let me in shop as I'm like kojak and bad for business :( so I just had to find by trial and error!

Through trial and error solved the problem Screwfix do a simple gardening spray bottle for about £5 that does the job without the seals failing.
