Is £28 per sqm fair price for tiling e.g. to remove stone floor (travertine) and re-lay porcelin tiles? What do you think? Quote does not include any materials or tiles etc. I am in midlands.

It depends on many factors work out what it's going to cost you and how much you will make no point in lowering your price to get work if you could be earning as much working in a supermarket

I wouldn't do it for 28 quid . Don't forget you are going to want latex after removing the stone so you got to factor that in to

Depends if you are the tiler or the client.

The OP is asking as a client. A brief glance at previous posts suggests you have had a few problems in the past with the quality of some work so would suggest you post the job in the relevant section on here.

You must get other quotes and you must compare like for like.

Rip up travertine tiles.
Prepare floor for tiling.
Lay self levelling compound if needed.
Tile with porcelain tile.
Seal tile (if a gloss porcelain....unless it has been pre sealed).
Grout floor and polish.

Are there lots of cuts?
Are there lots of doorways?
Is it a kitchen?
Are they very large or small porcelain tiles?
Is it a difficult or unusual tile pattern?
Do you want black grout?
Do you live on the 15th floor of a block of flats?
Do you have parking outside your property?
Do you live in a remote village with no water?

As you see, lots of questions need to be answered.

Strange that the tiler (or the person tiling) did not quote for materials..........that's a warning sign straight off.
