isn't this only applicable to porcelain as you wouldn't get the stress from the 'L' cut in stone or ceramic?

Also be gentile, don't force the grinder through the cut, speed isn't always best. The less pressure you put on a weak juncture the less potential damage you could do. "Don't split it with an axe, cut it with a saw"

I can always use sandpaper.......
