Dan is kinda right , again we`ll use the term "mud" very looslly in conversation . Like I`ll say " It took me so ling to prep out the floor ,I didn`t start slinging mud till 11 o clock!! "
But Dave is realy right, cause the word mud or mudding is a mixture of portland cement & sand to create/screed a flat/level base in which to set your tile or stone on.
Floor mud is called "Deck Mud" usually 4 or 5 to 1 mix Or add 1 part lime to the mix & you have what we call "Fat Mud" for walls or ceilings usually over a wire mesh of some sort ,some times done in two parts , scratch coat then come back later & do final coat/screed. |
