I recently recovered from tennis elbow myself, after suffering it for almost a year, and I can tell you this much: When I get around to buying a smaller jackhammer of my own, it's going to be the most vibration dampening one on the planet.
Excess vibrations + old tennis elbow = increased risk of arthritis.
I've seen one from Hitachi, called
H45MRY, which cost around £450 in retail, which means I can get it for 30% less from my uncle. Next time I need some smaller and gentler than the
Hilti TE 905 I share with a mate of mine, I'll get one of those.
No matter what you choose, it's still gentler on the tendons to use an SDS drill hammer than it is to chihp away manually all the time. And more economical, as it saves alot of time. You can clear a 5sqm floor of 10x10 porcelain in about 20 minutes with an sds drill hammer. Would take alot longer with a hammer and chisel.
When I did my apprenticeship, I was only given manual tools to work with, even for the really heavy stuff. My right pinky is still, after all this time, a bit ****ed up from all that manual hammering and chiseling.
