Default Rubi DW 250-N - the right decision??

I am about to shell out about 700 sheets on a Rubi DW 250-N, have done lots of research and have decided that it is the best I can get for that money, just got a contract with a builder for 6 houses and will be using it pretty solid for the next few months on all sorts of materials, just looking for a little reassurance!

hi rockroo

i was in the same boat a few weeks back..

money not an object, just wanted to get the best cutter for the price you mentioned. seemed logical to go for the dw250n, only 30 quid more expensive than the dw200n and the discs about 25-30 more too. heard lots of good things etc until!!!

about 5 site tilers and about 4 web site supplies all said the same thing, go for the dw200n

heres what they said..
1.problem with the guard snapping off when plunge cutting
2. the dw200n has a longer cut capacity
3. due to the large diameter of the 250's disc, it has a tendancy to cut off line due to tolerance.
4. the dw200n was cheaper to run (ie cost of discs)
5. more problems with returns with the 250
6. although the dw250 can cut deeper, it doesnt have the extra power so it puts a strain on the motor.
7. the plus for the dw250n was the plunge handle but you can still plunge with the dw200 so not an issue

all in all i was ready to commit to the dw250 but then i decided to go with what id heard on the sites and iby the tiling retailers and go with the dw200n.

then again theres a few on here who have the 250 and love it so pay your money and take your choice. one thing i would say is, theres a famous tile retailer who used to be on here who really put me off the dw250 and he sells loads of them, so maybe that tells you something hey....but if your where to buy either of the rubis, then id go and see neil at www.buybrandtools.com hes a decent guy who will get you a good price

ed

If you're using it onsite are you going for the 110v version? Most sites around my way insist on 110v tools.

Thought I might as well go for the 110v, then the problem won't arise!

It's just a cropped pic of me holding my first son, I use for sentimental reasons really.

Thanks Raja, but I am in Northern Ireland and unfortunately only one rubi supplier here (that I can find anyway) so will more than likely get it on the net, if I can find one with decent delivery charges that is, sometimes you would think that it was as far away as Australia the amount some try to charge. I wanted to order some small goods (nippers, spacers etc), that came to around 30 quid, and the delivery charge was £42.00, I haven't heard the company mentioned on here so I won't either, but needless to say I didn't place the order.
