special diamond disk
hi there.
iv seen on a site a mini grinder disk that is 4-5 mm thick and the edge is rounded so that you can use it to smooth out curves etc, a normal disk leaves little steps as it cuts . iv used cheap diamond disks lately as iv havent got around to buying a good one. (order going in to trade tiler soon)
the good ones iv looked at are 1mm and these would leave more little steps ( i think).
unfortunitly i cant find that site as i only stumbled across the disk when looking for something else.
thanks in advance

Re: special diamond disk
thinking about it some more. i think i sayw it on a stone installers site for putting drainage slots in stone worktops .
do you find that you normal high end diamond dish leave little steps in the cut if you use thes to smooth out a curve. i think the good one i just ordered will deflect toomuch when doing something like this

Re: special diamond disk
Stonetools do great blades at the proper price IMO.
I have a 1mm tectron blade from them and its class.
Marble vanity 115mm blade too is great.

Re: special diamond disk
smoothing out a curve can be done with a normal disc you just need a bit of practice with the grinder if it is for a finished edge then a polisher would be preferable to a grinder

Re: special diamond disk
its only for smotthing out the cut edge. i often use my cheap diamond blade on the corner of it to smooth out the cut but it leaves little chips and cuts. i think its because the blade (or me) moves or flexs too much. im afraid that when i get my new blade, montolit blade that it will flex even more

Re: special diamond disk
Blades are made to flex slightly so they don't snap....

use cheap discs and keep your expensive new one in the nice case it comes in then it will last you forever

Re: special diamond disk
maybe i should cut it in half . use one half for good work and the other for rougher work

Re: special diamond disk
iv got a good one ordered from them. cant wait. im afraid that it will flex too much when smooting out a curve or worse damage it. the disk i saw would be great for that job as its wide enough for stability and rounded over so that it wont leave ridges
