    Default New cutter...

    Hello chums,

I am going to be in the market to buy a new cutter at the start of next year. As a lot of you know I am a Rubi man and always have been. I really like the look of the Ti-s but I have been told that this is pretty much the same cutter as a sigma but more expensive. I have never used a sigma or a monti, so I am looking for a bit of advice from those of you that have used more than one of the makes above (please no "my cutters better than your cutter").

What is the price difference between the sigmas, Monti's and Rubi's and where is the best place to go for them? Im looking for something that can handle any 600mm tile.

    Many thanks for your thoughts

The only rubi I've used is the ts which we all know is poor on ceramics. The sigma s are more awkward to use at first but brilliant cutters when you get used to it. I have the 3b and the smaller sigma 7 which is ideal for splashbacks

With my pull cut Sigma I can see the wheel easy. With my Brothers push cut Monti i cant and that's where I think the problem lies. Some people don't like the pull cutters as it can give wrist ache. never bothered me though. I will be looking at a bigger cutter some time next year and it will be a Sigma.

Do you prefer the rubi due to being easier to use or because it cuts better stew?

    Thanks guys.

Dave, I have a TX, need another cutter as the work load has increased and the tools are being spread out. The TX is a brilliant cutter but it is on the pricey side and I have always promised myself that I would give another make a try.

Can we talk about the prices of the other cutters on here or where are the best places to look for them?

I'd like to try a Sigma just so I can compare it to my Rubi's. My next purchase will be a 900mm cutter and if a Sigma is genuinely better cutter than the tx900 I'll but one, bit of an expensive mistake if it's not though!

From looking at some of the distributors, it seemed like it was an optional extra! I need a box for everything, if it ain't got a box, it'll get broken somehow!

Ok, thank you all for your thoughts so far, I would like to get a little more specific if I may. Im not going to go with Rubi as i want to have a try with another brand and I have rubis that I will continue using. I have been offered a good price on a Monti master puima (thanks to one of our members ). What are your guys views on these cutters? Would it be wiser to cough up for a sigma?
