Re: Rubi 25944
Get yourself an Eibenstock...

Re: Rubi 25944
They are Rubi's budget range of tools , i had the twin paddle one( Freebie) and you always get that smell from the bushes as you mix... they are ok mixers but IMO not upto the usage from every day mixing that a pro tiler does, but as a multi trader like yourself it should be fine.

I have been using an evolution twister for about a year or so now , mixes every day and seems to be holding up... needed a quick paddle mixer when rubi went..
.. but will be an Eibenstock when this one goes..

Re: Rubi 25944
I thought so, not keen on the variable speed wheel but like i said needed a quick mixer whilst 40 mile from home, so screwfix it was..

Lmao. The Rubi is not a budget range mixer Dave. I also have the green evolution mixer which I use for plaster & it's still going strong 2 years down the line though I have had to replaced the cable. Was half the price of a Rubi. I can assure you, I may be a multi trader, but I'll give any Tiler a run for the money! I've seen some dodgy tiling in my time from so called "pro tilers" with there 25 years experience lol. My question isn't who's the better Tiler but does anyone have the same mixer with the same smell? I dont use it everyday so wasnt sure if any dampness from the van was causing it.

Re: Rubi 25944
I was not having a dig at your experience... so wind ya neck in a bit.... that rubi number you put up is the BL range.... if you think it isn't then please find a pic of your mixer and post it..???
-
-

It is a 9 BL. May have the wrong model number though but at around £100, I wouldn't call it "budget" My evo is £50 and that's going strong 2 years down the line. Hell, I've seen tilers whacking a paddle in a Aldi special cordless drill...that's what I call budget. You may justify spending hundreds of pounds on a mixer as max, you may have 5 main tools you use all day, everyday. I've about £60k of tools in my van covering all aspects of work. I cant justify buying the best products on the Market for them to be used when needed. Buying a Rubi mixer, I'd expect it to last a bit longer than a paddle in a drill.

My new eibenstock is superb, a good bit heavier than my last one but it's my helper who mixes. Lol.

I'am just amazed that you would leave such a valuable piece of machinery out in the cold! If I left my son out there in this weather I'am sure he'd smell a bit when I asked for a mix.

I've had the Rubimix 10 for a year now and am more than happy with it's performance. Never had any dodgy burning smells from it either.

Re: Rubi 25944
Wouldn't it be the output wattage that really matters? I have a macmar 1300 output and used it every day. even mixed concrete in 20l buckets no problem, but dont ask me who makes them. cost me $300 about 150 quid had variable speed, twin handles was the best i've used over the years.
Must say though, every now and again i would get a whiff from hot bushes i guess.

Re: Rubi 25944
Basic, Budget, Basement, Bottom line....all the same to me.

Re: Rubi 25944

Re: Rubi 25944
Bubbles, i too have this mixer and yes you do get a smell from the brushes, they supply a spare set with machine. Mines going strong after couple years and gets some pretty heavy use. Remember brushes, not bushes
