i don't like messing about with doors either but i guess it's part of the job. i use an electric planer or a good handsaw if it needs a lot off

I use an electric planer or a hand saw depending on the type of door and how much needs to be taken off. I also charge a premium for this as a five minute job could turn into an expensive nightmare if you mess it up.

Always trim doors for customers with a circular saw, along with new threshold bar with hidden fixing. Charge £** and takes me 30 mins, cheaper than a joiner and at £** an hour, more lucrative than tiling...

you have to covered by your insurance to do any other trades.... those that do it without risk getting caught out with the old phrase, mr tiler there is a scratch on my door that was not there before you trimmed it..
I am more than capable of doing other trades but i am not insured to do it, hence i don't..![]()
Hi, I use a bosch pmf multi-tool cutter. Saves time, money, you don't need to remove the door or get anyone else in to do anything.

And we seem to have a TROLL on board..?
Some tradesmen do have insurance and trust me it isn't being a jobs worth... if you do none insured work then that is your choice..
keraquick, its in the name!!!!

a solid wood door is not a problem to me, either use power plane or hand saw, but these lightweight veneered doors absolutely no way as I don't have the nuance to stop them spelching.

never plane doors......cause im useless at it..
im a tiler and i tile.....stick to what im good at, and to be honest anyone that says its just a case of running a saw through the bottom of a door, is devaluing a carpenters trade the same as saying its just a case of slapping tiles on the wall...
