i had the same cutter and the same problem. i bought a sigma (i forget the number now) 63cm cut. i wondered how i tiled so long without one. it does take some getting used to though due to the pull scribe. it cost me £270 inc. vat from diatech, next day delivery. it may be worth you trying one out before buying, i'm sure some of the peeps on here will recommend the rubi tx range too

Stretch your budget and get a TX700N![]()
Never mind this Sigma tosh........
Also, this is worth a look if you don't want something as big as the TX700N....

what sigma would you recommend?

Sigma Art 3c 75cm 3ckm.gif
but it depends on what size you mainly cut this one will cut 75 cm (not a 600x600 on the diagonal)

so whats the pros and cons of
the rubi v the sigma?

you have Rubi owners and then you have Sigma owners i am sure you will hear the pros and cons in this thread good luck

thats why im asking mate, whats your take on it?

i can recommend the sigmas as i currently own 5 hope this helps
lol why do you need 5

When i started tiling tiles on average were 200x200 only needed a small cutter as time went on tiles grew so needed to upgrade tile cutters . now do you think tiles will get bigger than 150 cm if they do ill need another cutter

jays answered your question perfectly......the only reason to upgrade a sigma is the cutting length, any sigma any size will cut the hardest of porcelain, where as a rubi you have to upgrade the cutter to cut harder tiles.
i have 2 sigmas, one will cut up to 330 tiles, which is ideal for kitchen spash backs and run of the mill bathroom tiles, and this is my big sigma...001.jpg it will cut up to 750 tiles, both are well over 15 yrs old and still going strong, the build quality is outstanding, and i see no reason why they wont last me another 15yrs.
as some have said they do take some getting used to, but once mastered you will never look back.![]()

I don't think you would really want to carry a Rubi TX700N around when cutting small tiles....Yes it will cut them but its a big cutter. Ideally you require at least 2 cutters ...Maybe more depending on the size tiles you are using.
Its sods law that if you buy a TX700 the next job will be 900mm tiles, you cant win!
As for the whole debate, Rubi V Sigma its horses for courses. What ever works for you.
I am happy with my Sigmas ( only 3) but if I were to be feeling in the mood to get a smaller cutter it would be a Rubi ts30 for when I am using 150mm -200mm size stuff on the industrial units that I tile.

to add more complication to the debate there's also the montolit to think about, some people prefer these TradeTiler.Ltd my mate has one for sale£150 plus delivery if you're interested
Is there a big size difference between the rubi and the sigma that have been mentioned?

Only got the Rubi 40,50,and 60 and a hammer - it does all my porcelain.
