These are the Festool Geckos. Finally, after installing hundreds of shower doors and mirrors on my jobs, I decided to buy some glass handling equipment. My Festool dealer also sells glass handling tools, so when I called him about this he suggested the Geckos. They're obviously compatible with other Festool equipment such as the guide rails, but even it that weren't an issue they cost less than other glass suction cups and are easier to use.
I thought this would be a good FYI for the forum members that install glass on their jobs.
Installing a lot more glass splashies and worktops at the mo so will look at cost for these over here, just have some unbranded ones which have seen better days
right gonna put an order in! only £63 and will work with my guide rail as you say Rob
Rob a quick question, when I clamp my guide rail with my quick clamps (Irwin not festool) it lifts the leading edge up by 1 or 2mm, does it do the same with these?

I am definately not a Green KoolAid drinker (at least not compared to some at the FOG), but I have to say some of the Festools I have bought have MORE than paid for themselves.

Hi Rob, I don't use the qucik clamps for the guiderail. I'll post the ones that we use, for your reference. I haven't had any probs with the rail shifting. Hold on, let me look for a link...
Cheers Rob, I did look at those when I first bought the Festool plunge cutter but there just seemed too many instances where they wouldn't work with various ways we place the guide rail, I was also surprised to see that they don't have protective pads on them. I know the gekos would require enough material for it to sucker to and for that material to be flat not textured but 70% of the TS's workload is in the kitchen so the gekos would fit the bill, maybe at £20 odd quid the screw clamps would come in handy for some things.
The irwin quick clamps are just the standard ones, I place the rubber pads just over the channel where those screw clamps slide in.
There are quite a few Brits on the FOG and they all seem to say that there is a lack of good dealers and reps in the UK. If this guy Warren could be a good contact for you , I thought I would pass it along.
They look very pro. My old man does did window fitting for most of his working life, and other than having silicone all over them, he's had the same 'suckers' for years. He says the rubbers get better on them over time so he's reluctant to get new ones to replace his old even though they look really tatty.
So look after them and they'll last you for the rest of your life.
I've got a set of old tatty one's that I've had for more than ten years and they still do the job, but those look really slick and well designed. I may just treat myself....(:0)
