Default Dewalt D24000 hints / tips and accessories thread

    Hi
I've decided to go with the Dewalt D24000 tile saw and thought a thread to discuss hints/tips and accessories might be useful.

As with any product, people using them everyday develop little tricks to make them work better.
Also people seem to find obscure accessories that makes life so much easier.

I intend to modify the water valve to something more robust. I think a small push fit water shut off valve will do the trick.
Another thing i'm looking at getting is a sheet of smooth Alu/S/steel to fit (temporarily)on top of the rubber bed.
This will allow me to slide the tile sideways when cutting small u shaped cut outs. I use the side of the blade to act as a grinder for a nice and neat cut etc.

I haven't noticed any Laser alignment add ons for the D24000.
My old QEP Pro 900 had a neat Laser mounted at the front wheel housing.
This made setting the tile before the cut that much easier.
I had to get one sent from the US, but to QEPs credit, they didn't charge me a bean!
I will look into fitting this to the Dewalt. Maybe some water proof velcro pads might be best whilst deciding on the best place.

I have seen on You-tube "extend a fence & profiling 10F2", but apart from that very little.

So come on guys/girls, fire away......(i know there are plenty of D24000 owners on here)

Do not cut into the sliding bed, as I did. By having the blade set to low

Unfortunatley the profile wheels are like hens teeth in the UK , you can get them made but at what cost I dont know. I have recently been talking to a few companies about such items but they just wont give you a straight answer.

I usually import things if i cannot get them here.

Lasers on saws seem rare over here, but they can be useful.
Something like this would screw on the front of the wheel housing.

IMO lasers are just a gimmick.. the line displayed can be to wide for intricate work..

Im sure DK Holdings will make them for you. Enduro uses these guys and i have had some dealings with them for smaller dewalt stoen router bits.

Im sure if enough of you want one the cost will come down massively

The QEP Laser has a very narrow beam. And even then, you get used to knowing how to edge up to it.
They also help when doing "L" cuts to confirm you are cutting to the end of the previous cut etc.

    tips on the dewalt d2000

i always put the water pump in a clean bucket of water when finished so it flushes the pipes through and prevents any tile slurry building up.

I've just found this site selling all spare parts for the Dewalt D24000...
The parts are for the mark 1 version. I suppose most parts will fit the mark 2. If not i'm sure they will be able to supply.

Ideal if you have cut your "rear flap" (item 54 on the page),not that anybody would do that on here...AHEM!

    ->Click here for spare parts<-

If anybody tries them, please report how you faired etc

    PS
What are the differences between the the mark 1 and 2?

I reckon a laser would be a real bonus ! my mate has one on his wood cut saw, save a lot of pratting about lining cuts to blade, any suggestions well accepted here !!, btw, Phil Hobson not entirely to blame for cut through his rolling bed, i must confess I made it worse ! BUT did get it plated with special steel and properly fixed, like a gent I offered him bed off my new one, but he declined the offer !! Any way fulabeer where are you in Manchester , I hail from there, often found in pubs around town, fav ones are circus, vine, city arms, britons protector hare and hounds shudehill to mention a few !! and not to mention you got a top badge displayed on your posts !!!!............ bluuuuu moooon !!

I've only been in the Circus a couple of times since George retired.
I used to go into Paddy's Goose with a Gay friend of mine.
Unfortunately he died from a heart attack six months a go and the village is just not my scene etc.
I'm from Droyslden, so Staly Vegas is very handy, but even that has really gone down hill these days.

The laser comes into its own when the light starts to fade. It helps locate the blade before you cut etc.
It also helps when you want to notch out U shapes etc. It stops you from wandering to far left or right.

    On a side note...
I must urge anybody who wants a D24000 to buy from Dave and Katrina at Trade Tiler.
Excellent service from start to finish.
If you add the fact that you get two Porcelain blades and a stand included, it works out the cheapest deal around.

If you pick up like i did, then make sure you avoid Katrina's tea!
Just kidding Katrina !!! ( in case you are reading this), i cannot praise you high enough for your attitude and friendliness.
I promise i will have a brew next time i'm passing.

I guess you may have a warranty claim or just take it out of your sons wages. See what your dealer says about it.

I am interested in how this wheel has broke. You dont seem to have much luck, water spraying and now wheels breaking. I am not the most careful bloke when it comes to using the cutter but never had any problems at all.
Lets see a picture of this broken wheel.
